9:00-12:30 Dr A. Tibary — world authority on alpaca reproduction and care will share his knowledge about maximizing reproductive efficiency in alpacas. The general objective is to discuss how to maximize output (number of births of health crias on the lifetime of the dam) without jeopardizing the health and welfare of the dam. Aspects that will be discussed include paying attention to the biosecurity measures in breeding operations, reproductive health checks in males and females, proper breeding strategies and pregnancy diagnosis, avoiding complication during pregnancy, delivery of crias, cria care ad postpartum rebreeding.
